Perks of the Job

One of the things that I've really enjoyed about working in the church office two or three times a week is occasionally being asked to help with little tasks. Some of these things aren't very exciting, but it brings me great pleasure to see how they help someone out or make things run more smoothly in the building. Every now and then, the task involved spending the church's money on some kind of equipment. For some reason, I really seem to enjoy doing this.

Yesterday, after installing a modem on the accountant's computer, Pasha asked if I had time to stop by a computer store by our house and pick up a new printer for the recording studio. The printer has the ability to print photos as well as labels for CDs and DVDs. It was such a wonderful feeling to walk into the store, point to the printer, say I wanted it, and then whip out a few thousand rubles to buy it. Maybe I shouldn't have enjoyed it as much as I did. Still, it was fun to act like a big spender and know that the money I spent wasn't mine.

Tomorrow, I'm off to the airport and then IKEA to spend some more money that isn't mine. What a fun week!

P.S. Another nice thing about coming into the church is that I get to drink coffee for free. Good times!
